Rugby union regional selection trial and state championship information.

11–12 Years

Information	Combined 11–12yrs
Trial date	Wednesday 19 May & Thursday 20 May 2027
Trial starts	8:30am
Venue	Sunnybank RUC
Officials meeting	8:30am
Catering	Students are advised to bring their own food and water.
Equipment	Students must provide and use their own mouthguard.
Shade	Adequate shade at the venue.
Competitors	Each district is invited to nominate one team of 23 players.
Trial	Competition draw will be sent to District officials prior to the trial.
Competition rules	U12 Pathway Laws. 2 x 20 min halves.
Umpires/Referees	Association referees will be used if available.
Selection procedures	As per MESSB policy, one teacher from each district team may be nominated as a member of the Selection Panel. Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be held.
First aid	Sports medicine personnel will be available for the duration of the trial.
Risk management	A Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment (CARA) has been completed for this activity. Students must provide and use their own mouthguard. This is a CARA requirement.
Alternate date	In the event that this trial is postponed due to inclement weather, the trail will be held on TBA. All other arrangements will remain the same.
State championships	The QRSS 11-12yrs Rugby Union State Championship will be held in Northern Region, 22 - 25 July 2027.

13–19 Years

Trial starts	8:30am	8:30am-3:30pm
Venue	Riverside Junior Rugby Union Club, Bulimba St, Bulimba	Sunnybank RUC
Officials meeting	8:30am	8:00am
Catering	Bring own food and water	A canteen will operate at the trial.
Equipment	Students must provide and use their own mouthguard.	Students must provide and use their own mouthguard and personal equipment.
Shade	Adequate shade at venue	Adequate shade at venue
Competitors	Each District is invited to nominate one team of 23 players.	This trial is a Direct to Met East Trial process. Therefore, students wishing to attend the trial, need to obtain a nomination form from their School Sport Co-ordinator. The Regional convenor will then let schools know who can attend the trial. Students must have prior experience and be approved as suitable to attend the trial by their school.

Rugby 7s

Information	Girls 15–16yrs & 17-18yrs
Trial date	Tuesday 16 March 2027
Trial starts	9:00am - 3:00pm
Venue	Sunnybank RUC
Officials meeting	An official's meeting will be held at 8am.
Catering	There will be canteen operating at the venue.
Equipment	Each player attending the trial is required to wear a jersey, suitable plaing shorts, boots and socks. Students must provide and use their own mouthguard.
Shade	There is adequate shade available at the field.
Competitors	Students wishing to attend this trial, need to complete a Nomination and Students Details form, which is available from the School Sports Co-Ordinator. School sport co-ordinators will be advised by the Regional Convenor which students are able to attend the trial. Students must have prior experience and be approved as suitable to attend the trial by their school.
Trial	This will be determined by the Regional Convenor, depending on the number of nominations.
