It is essential that School Sport Co-ordinators are contacted in the first instance to answer all questions in relation to District trials.
District Nomination Process– Nominations via your School Sports Coordinator to attend a District Trial.
Direct to MER Nomination Process - Nominations via your School Sports Coordinator to attend a Met East trial directly (No District Trial).
Trial Acknowledgement & Selection Policy
- District trials are sports trials run by volunteer officials within each district.
- Schools must ensure students nominated for 10–12 years district trials meet the eligibility and capability criteria, including age requirements, appropriate skill standard for district-level participation, and readiness to compete safely.
- Officials are chosen based on competency & knowledge in the sport / event.
- To ensure transparency and fairness, multiple officials collaborate on the final selections in accordance with the district's trial procedures.
- This process is the standard procedure for all district trials.
- Any successful selection is based on the standard of performance on the trial day and the selection panels' decision is final.
- By schools allowing students to participate in a trial, all parents/carers acknowledge acceptance of this process.
General Information
Nomination Process – Parents and Schools
School Level
- Students who wish to participate must first nominate through their school's Sports Coordinator or HPE Teacher.
- Schools will communicate the sports available, nomination dates, and eligibility requirements to families.
- Schools are responsible for the selection of high skilled level students and submission of nominations to their District by the advertised due date.
All permission and consent forms must be completed and physically taken to the District Trial and submitted to relevant district officials. NO PAPERWORK / NO TRIAL.
Nominations outside of this process will not be accepted.
Student Officials
Queensland Representative School Sport (QRSS) offers students in Queensland an opportunity to participate in all facets of the representative school sport pathway and actively promotes the development of students in all areas of sport.
Student official opportunities include:
- referee/umpire roles
- Student Advisory Committee membership.
