Trials commence at:
9:30 (warm up can begin from 9:00) til 2:00 approx
 
Venue:
Redlands Softball Association fields, Sturgeon St, Ormiston
 
Officials Meeting:
Where staff from districts are in attendance, a meeting of team officials will be held at 9:00 as well as a selection meeting at the lunch break.
 
Catering:
Students will need to bring their own food and drinks (water available at taps) as no canteen facilities will be available.
Officials will be provided with a light lunch.
 
Equipment:
Students must bring all personal softball equipment (glove, helmet, catching gear, mouthguard etc.)
 
Shade:
There is adequate shade available at the field.
 
Competitors:
These trials are by individual nomination only.
Students who wish to trial are invited to complete the individual nomination form and schools are to forward it along with all other forms, directly to the Convenor to reach her no later than Monday, 6 February 2017
Students will not be permitted to participate at this trial without having completed all forms.
No girl will be permitted to trial unless ALL forms are received by the convenor PRIOR to the day of the trials.
 
Trial Format
The trial will include batting and fielding drills and game scenarios.
 
 
 
Cost:
Cost per student is $20 to  Cost per student is $20 to cover venue costs, sports medicine etc. 
 
Students must pay the Trial Levy to the Regional Convenor on the day of the trials prior to the commencement of play. – NO MONEY, NO TRIAL!
 
Selection
Procedures:
Selectors will include the Met East coach/es and other suitably qualified personnel will be invited to assist. Also, as per MESSB Policy, one teacher from each district may nominate as a member of the Selection Panel. Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be held.
The Absent Competitor rule will be applied if a student
a)    is absent at a sporting event at a higher level or
b)    has presented a letter to the convenor prior to the trials containing
           a medical certificate identifying illness or injury
     and has a record of prior achievement in that sport.
 
Competition

This is a trial only
 
First
Aid:
Sports Medicine personnel will be available for the duration of the trial.
 
Risk
Management:
School personnel are advised to ensure that students provide and use appropriate personal safety equipment (e.g. helmets, catching gear, mouthguards).
Regional guidelines for hydration should be expressed to students.
All medical conditions must be advised on the appropriate form.
 
Note: A Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment has been completed for this activity.
 
Alternate Date:
 
In the event that this trial is postponed due to inclement weather, the trial will be held on Tuesday 14 February. All other arrangements will remain the same.

Students / Schools are to return by fax (3907 5799) or e-mail craigj@mbc.qld.edu.au) completed standard District forms as well as the Individual Nomination Form (attached) to the convenor by  Monday 6 February 2017
Students who do not have all documents completed and returned to the convenor prior to the day of the trial cannot be permitted to trial.

Note that sending the nomination form does not mean that the student is automatically invited to attend the trial.

A list of students selected to trial will also be emailed to District Sport Secretaries.
