Softball Regional Trial Information

 

13-19 years softball trials

​Boys, Girls or Combined Girls​ 13-19yrs, Boys 13-19yrs. (Two groups trailing separately)

​Date/s of Trail Tuesday, 18 February 2020   *** New Date - Tuesday, 25 February *****
​Trials Commence at 9:30 til 2:00 approx. Trial may end earlier if selection is completed. If this occurs, appropriate supervision will be provided until all students are collected.
​Venue Redlands Softball Association fields, Sturgeon St, Ormiston
​Catering ​Students will need to bring their own food and drinks (water available at taps) as no canteen facilities will be available.
​Equipment​​ Students must bring all personal softball equipment (glove, helmet, catching gear, mouthguard etc.)
​Shade ​There is adequate shade available at the field.
​Nomination Form

These trials are by individual nomination only.

Students who wish to trial are invited to complete the individual nomination form and schools are to forward it along with other forms as listed below, directly to the Convenor to reach her no later than Tuesday, 4 February 2020.

Students will not be permitted to participate at this trial without having completed all forms.
​Cost ​Students accepted to attend the trial will be advised of the cost and process to pay the trial levy at a future date via email.  This will be a new online process in 2020, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PAY ANY MONEY UNTIL ADVISED TO DO SO BY THE CONVENOR.
​Trial The trial will include batting and fielding drills and game scenarios.
​Selection Procedures ​Selectors will include the Met East coach/es, and other suitably qualified personnel may be invited to assist. Also, as per MESSB Policy, one teacher/teacher aide from each district may nominate as a member of the Selection Panel. Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be held
​Competition Rules This is a trial only.
​First Aid ​Sports Medicine personnel will be available for the duration of the trial. School personnel are advised to ensure that students provide and use appropriate personal safety equipment (e.g. helmets, catching gear, mouthguards). Regional guidelines for hydration should be expressed to students. All medical conditions must be advised on the appropriate form    
​Risk Management Note: A Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment has been completed for this activity.
​Alternate Date ​In the event that this trial is postponed due to inclement weather, the trial will be held on Thursday 20 February. All other arrangements will remain the same.

  • Individual Nomination Form - attached
  • Principal consent form (stamped and signed)

These documents must be submitted through the student’s school.

The following forms can be sent via e-mail as above OR can be brought with the student on the day.

 

  • Authority and consent form (part A)
  • Medical details form 
  • Student details form 
  • Parental Consent Form

 

 

 

 

Students who do not have all documents completed cannot be permitted to trial.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR STUDENTS CHANGING SCHOOLS:

Students changing schools in the new year (eg; Year 6 into Year 7) must submit the nomination form and district forms by the due date.
Note that invitation to trial is not automatic. Students will be advised of their acceptance into the trial by notification through their school from the Convenor. If advice is not received by Monday 10 February 2020, school staff should contact the Convenor
