Rugby League Regional Trial Information

​Date/s of Trial ​Thursday 27th February 2020
​Trials Commence at Player sign-on from 8.30am
​Venue Carina Juniors Rugby League Club - Creek Rd, Carina    
​Officials Meeting A meeting of team officials will be held at 8:00am, in the Referee's room beside the canteen.
​Catering ​A canteen will operate at the trial which will supply a range of food options, OR students can bring own food 
​Equipment​​ ​Each team is required to supply one set of jerseys, one kicking tee, water bottles, warm-up equipment and one match ball.
STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE AND USE THEIR OWN MOUTHGUARD. This is a CARA requirement.
​Shade There is some shade available at the fields.
​Competitors ​Each school in the region is encouraged to nominate any eligible and suitably competent player to participate at the regional trial. Please note that there is no district trial process; students will be nominated directly to the regional trial.

Schools are encouraged to only nominate students who are experienced Rugby League players. If a school nominates five (5) or more students, they must also send an accompanying teacher to help supervise students in attendance.
​Cost ​Each student is required to pay a trial levy of $22.00.

The payment due date is Monday 24 February.

Payment is to be made via the Met East payment online system https://rssshop.education.qld.gov.au/met-east

New users must register an account before payment can be made. 

NO CASH PAYMENTS will be accepted at the trial.
​Umpires Association Referees will be used for each game.  However, team officials may be called upon to assist in umpiring when their own team is not playing.
​Trial ​The trial will begin with a sign-on period to confirm numbers of participants. This will be from 8:30am.

From 9:00am to 10:30am, a skills and drills session will occur. This will be followed by a selection meeting.

From 11:30pm to 2:00pm there will be a series of trial games. These will conclude with a selection meeting.

At 2:15pm, the Metropolitan East team will be announced. This will be followed by the assembling and briefing of the team by Team Officials.    
​Selection Procedures As per MESSB Policy, one teacher from each district team may be nominated as a member of the Selection Panel. Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be held.
​Competition Rules ​Game time - start and finish on siren as per draw. Note that as this is a selection trial, no scores will be kept.
​First Aid Sports Medicine personnel will be available from the duration of the trial.
​Risk Management Note: A Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment has been completed for this activity.
​Alternate Date ​In the event that this trial is postponed due to inclement weather, the trial will be held on TBA. All other arrangements will remain the same.
​Forms ​Please return the following forms when nominating (all forms available from school sport coordinators):
  • Individual Nomination Form (fully completed) – To Michael Hutchinson, mhutc66@eq.edu.au, no later than 23 FEB 2020


Standard District Forms:

  • Authority & Consent Form (Part A) – day of trial
  • Parental Consent Form  - day of trial
  • Student Details Form  - day of trial
  • Medical Details Form – day of trial
  • Principal Consent Form (signed and stamped by the school Principal) – day of trial

School sport co-ordinators are to ensure that nominated students have completed their standard District Forms. The student is to bring these to the trial for submission during the sign-on period.

Students who do not have all documents or have not paid the trial levy  will not be permitted to trial.

​Trials Commence at Players arrive from 7:45am. First game commences at 9:15am.
​Venue Carina Juniors Rugby League Club - Creek Rd, Carina    
​Officials Meeting A meeting of team officials will be held at 8:20am, in the Juniors Clubhouse beside the canteen.
​Catering ​A canteen will operate at the trial which will supply a range of food options, OR students can bring own food 
​Equipment​​ ​Each team is required to supply one set of jerseys, one kicking tee, water bottles, warm-up equipment and one match ball.
STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE AND USE THEIR OWN MOUTHGUARD. This is a CARA requirement.

​Competitors ​Please note that a new format for the trial is being implemented:

Competing districts are as follows:

Bayside = one team of 16 players

Logan = two teams of 16 players each (these are to be evenly distributed with playing talent, not an As and Bs). One will be Logan Blue and the other Logan Yellow

South/Composite = one combined team of 16 players (South to provide officials and set the trial date. Composite will broadcast and advertise to support).

Each District is invited to nominate according to the above guidelines. (As per attached District Nomination Form)

​Trial Competition Draw: is a Round Robin followed by a Possibles vs Probables fixture, if required. The draw is attached to this letter.
