Trials commence at:
First round commences at 8:45.
Venue:
Redlands Softball Association, Sturgeon St, Ormiston
 
Officials Meeting:
A meeting of team officials will be held at 8:00
 
Catering:
A limited canteen will operate at the trial or students may bring their own food
 
Equipment:
Each team will be provided with a match ball at the officials meeting. This is to be returned at the end of play.
Students will need to supply all personal equipment (eg bats, gloves, etc.)
 
Shade:
There is adequate shade available at the field.
 
Competitors:
eg  Each District is invited to nominate one team of .up to 13 players. (As per attached District Nomination Form)
 
Trial:
The trial will take the form of a Round Robin competition followed by finals. A Possibles/Probables group will be selected and trials will continue with this group after presentations.
There will be no recording of scores, no finals round and no trophies or medallions awarded.
Should there be insufficient teams for a round robin competition, the format will be changed to skills sessions followed by trial games. If a district has insufficient players to form a team they MUST contact the convenor (e-mail below) immediately to see if they might be combined with another district, or to allow for an early decision to change the trial format.
 
District Nomination Form:
Each District Secretary must return to the District Convenor craigj@mbc.qld.edu.au .
Form C9 Nomination of District Team to Attend Regional Trial no later than Monday 15 May.
PLEASE INCLUDE NUMBER OF PLAYERS NOMINATED ON THIS FORM.
 
THEN return
Form C10 - District Team Details Form to the Convenor no later than Tuesday 30 May 2017.
 
Selection
Procedures:
As per MESSB policy, one teacher from each district may be nominated as a member of the Selection Panel. The Regional Coaches will be the Selection Panel chairs. District coaches may be asked to nominate players who may meet the selection criteria and should attend all selection meetings. A squad of possibles/probables will be asked to remain for further selections. A team will be announced at the end of these trials. Shadows will be selected but not named.
Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be held.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

The major criterion for selection will be the performance of the player at the Metropolitan East Carnival. Areas of performance considered will be:
 
1.    The skill level exhibited by the player.
2.    The fitness level of the player.
3.    The performance of the player as a member of a team.
4.    The attitude and behaviour of the player on and off the diamond.
 
Also to be eligible for selection, the player must not be thirteen (13) years of age or turn thirteen (13) this year or over thirteen (13).
 
Cost:
                                              Cost per student is $20.00 to cover venue costs, umpires, equipment etc.
 
Note that on the day, District Officials will be required to confirm the number of students representing their District. Invoices will be based on this information.
The District Manager’s/Treasurer’s school will be invoiced for this amount.  Money will not be accepted on the day.
 
Umpires:
Suitably qualified umpires will officiate at the games
 
Competition
Rules:
All games will be played under the current A.S.F rule book, except where modifications are outlined in the attached carnival rules.
 
First
Aid:
Sports Medicine personnel will be available from the duration of the trial.
 
Risk
Management:
A Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment has been completed for this event.
 
Alternate Date:
 
In the event that this trial is postponed due to inclement weather, the trial will be held on 13 June 2017. All other arrangements will remain the same.
