Trials commence at:
Official opening 8.30am – games commence at 9.00am Monday 8.45am Tuesday
 
Venue:
Loganholme Football Club, Bryants Road  Cornubia
 
Officials Meeting:
A meeting of team officials will be held at 8.00am Thursday 4 May 2017 and at various times throughout the trial for selection of teams.
 
Catering:
A canteen will operate at the trial. Officials will be given a lunch, snack & drink voucher on both days of the trial to use at the canteen. These vouchers will be distributed each morning at the trial.
 
Equipment:
Match balls & referees will be supplied for all games but teams will need to supply their own playing strips & students will need to supply their own personal playing equipment.
 
Shade:
There is some shade provided at the venue but teams have bought their own shade tents in the past.
 
Competitors:
Each District is invited to nominate one team of 14 players ONLY. (As per attached District Nomination Form) Please note students must not be turning 13 in 2017.
 
District Nomination Form:
Each District Secretary must return to the District Convenor Form C9 (Nomination of District Team to Attend Regional Trial).
 
Cost:
Cost per student is $20.00 to cover venue costs, equipment etc.
 
Note that on the day, District Officials will be required to confirm the number of students representing their District. Invoices will be based on this information.
The District Manager’s/Treasurer’s school will be invoiced for this amount.  Money will not be accepted on the day.
 
Umpires:
Where possible student referees from Cleveland SHS will be used for each game. Mr Paul Eldridge & a referee assessor from Cleveland SHS will be supervising, coaching & assessing students over the 2 day trial. However, team officials may be called upon to assist in umpiring when their own team is not playing.
 
Trial:
Competition Draw: Each district will play each other in a Round Robin competition.  Then teams will play off in a 1 v 2 3 v 4 rotation.
 
Selection
Procedures:
As per MESSB Policy, one teacher from each district may be nominated as a member of the Selection Panel. Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be held.
 
Competition
Rules:
Point scoring – Win 4 points, Draw 2 points, Loss 1 point
Game time is 30 minute halves – 5 minute half time break – start time on referee’s whistle.  Winner of the 1 V 2 game will deemed to be the winners. If this game is drawn then the team that won the game in the round robin competition will be deemed the winner.  If the round game is drawn then the team with the best goal difference will be deemed the winners. If the goal difference is the same then the team with the most goals scored will be deemed the winner. Teams will be competing for the John Harvey Shield (Boys) & the Damian Nolan Cup (Girls). Members of the winning team will not receive medallions this year, due to the new Met East payment systems.
 
First
Aid:
Sports Medicine personnel will be available from the duration of the trial but all teams are encouraged to bring their own first aid kits. Students with existing injuries should bring their own strapping tape if they wish to be strapped.
 
Risk
Management:
A Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment has been completed for this activity by the convenor & the referees.
 
Alternate Date:
 
In the event that this trial is postponed due to inclement weather, the trial will be held on 15/5/2017 & 16/5/2017. All other arrangements will remain the same.
